Medicine is an intensely demanding field that requires dedication, leadership, and a willingness to both learn and serve. Working in medicine and its related fields such as medical research, pharmacy, allied health professions, mental health, or biomedical engineering involves studying a vast array of subjects, a deep understanding of human biology, and a commitment to continuous improvement. Students are typically required to complete several years of study, many hours of clinical practice, and continuous development programs.
The National Scholar Junior Medicine Honor Society was established to foster leadership, promote scholarship, and develop a spirit of service among high school students who are interested in studying medicine and its related fields. This national society emphasizes an interdisciplinary and cross-cultural approach to promote innovation and equity in medicine.
Membership offers students unique opportunities for networking, mentorship, and professional development, as well as referrals to scholarship, award, and grant programs to support their medical education and career aspirations.
Eligibility Requirements
To qualify for membership, students must be currently enrolled in an accredited high school that is located within the United States. Students will also need to submit a short statement detailing their interest in medicine or a related field of study.
Accepted students are required to submit a $25 payment for their first year’s membership dues before they are inducted. We encourage all students to participate regardless of financial status; students may submit an application for a membership fee waiver.
